The Unshakeable Center

The Unshakeable Center:
A Daylong Retreat with Joseph Goldstein & nico hase

Saturday, October 10th
10 am to 4 pm pacific time

How do you find your center when the whole world seems to be spinning out of control?

Upekkha parami—equanimity—is the culmination of all the other paramis. It's not indifference or emotional flatness, but the profound peace that comes from accepting what is while still working skillfully for what could be.

This is wisdom and compassion perfectly balanced: the ability to care deeply without being devastated by outcomes, to act from love without attachment to results. It's the peace that passes understanding because it doesn't depend on circumstances.

What We’ll Explore Together

In this one-day online retreat, Joseph & nico will explore upekkha parami through guided practice—the profound peace that remains steady regardless of conditions.

The day will begin with an hour of conversation and an opening talk around the theme. We'll then sit and walk for four hours in lightly guided practice, before reconvening for a closing talk and further dialogue.

A Full Path of Practice—Rooted in Community

🪴Monthly Daylongs – This is the tenth in an annual series of ten online daylongs offered by Refuge of Belonging, a dharma community rooted in presence and open to all.

🪴The Paramis – The ten paramis are heart qualities that range from kindness and equanimity to resolve and letting go. They offer a time-tested path for cultivating what truly benefits both ourselves and others.

🪴Community – Refuge of Belonging is an online community offering a WhatsApp group, weekly dharma talks, monthly daylongs, quarterly classes, and an annual residential retreat—all designed to nourish and sustain your practice.

what people are saying

"Joseph is the man. His book, 'Mindfulness' is comprehensive... his podcast is surprisingly playful... he provides such useful advice. I find that he is very reassuring and easeful. It can be lonely and difficult practicing on one's own… his guidance makes practice feel much simpler."
— Reddit user reflecting on Goldstein's teachings

"Practicing meditation with nico has enhanced my ability to function as a radiologist because I have a greater awareness of where my attention is directed and a greater capability of directing it."
