Here's what I really think

I think this life is precious beyond measure,

not only because of ponderosas and songbirds,

but because we have this opportunity, this precious opportunity,

to wake up from the dream of suffering,

right here, right now.

🌳🌳

(also, I’m sorry I haven’t published a blog in way too long, but devon and I have been writing tons of microblogs on Facebook and Instagram . . . please check us out over there for more on these themes.)

🌳🌳

I think, too, that we don't have much time.

Nobody knows how much time you have, or I have,

but we know things change fast, death comes in a moment, often unexpected,

and so I ask myself every day,

Is this the life I want to be living?

🌳🌳

Also, I believe things matter:

what I think, what I say, what I do—

it matters. A lot. In fact, I'd say

my actions shape my world,

and of course, my actions shape the worlds of others.

So I ask myself:

Who do I want to be right now?

🌳🌳

Finally, my suffering is my own.

Call it samsara, if you like:

this gripping mind, this agitation,

this is what I have to work with, this is what I release moment by moment,

in many mini-nibbanas,

but also knowing there is a final release,

and that it is possible for every one of us.

🌳🌳

sending lots of love,
nico
